It is very difficult to guide someone through a procedure, over the phone or an instant messenger. If you are not able to visit a friend or client, to solve his computer related issues, a remote control utility is the best solution. XpressControl can be used by system administrators, on a private network, or by professional tech support employees, over the Internet. The software can establish a connection immediately, even if the firewall is turned on.

Unlike other remote control applications, XpressControl comes in a single package, which includes both client and host modules. The setup file is almost 2 MB and it will install all modules, in just a few seconds. The application works on all popular Windows versions, but you can not use it on 64-bit operating systems.

Once installed, the software will create shortcuts for each module. If you wish to connect to a remote computer, over a local network, you just need to run the Remote Host module on that computer. The Support Engineer Desktop must be launched on your own computer. It provides a clean and simple interface, on which you can view the remote computer's desktop in real time.

To connect to a remote computer, it is sufficient to provide its local IP address. Additionally, you can specify the host's alias and a port and save the connection settings for later use. Besides interacting with a computer's desktop, you can type commands on a small window and send them to the remote host. It is also possible to send files, by selecting them on a separate window or by dragging and dropping them over the remote desktop.

If you want to preserve the computer's resources, while controlling a computer, you may set the application to show less colors, on the remote desktop. Selecting a faster or slower compression method is another possibility.

Pros

XpressControl allows you to connect to a remote computer right away. You can send commands or files to a remote computer and control it as if you were right in front of it. The software can be set to display more or less colors, so you will not sacrifice too many resources.

Cons

The software is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems. With XpressControl, it does not take more than a few seconds to connect to a remote computer, regardless of distance.
